Maryam Firoozi is a multimedia artist whose work in each artistic medium reflects elements from other forms, such as painting, literature, and cinema. Her key themes revolve around culture, gender, and the identity of contemporary humans, approached with a critical perspective that challenges the medium she works in.
Her master’s thesis in Film Studies, titled “Self-reflexivity as a Dramatic Extension in Iranian Cinema,” was selected as the best thesis of the year. This research also served as the foundation for her latest short film, The Temporary Death of Bees, which garnered significant attention at both domestic and international festivals.
In photography, she began her professional career with her first solo exhibition, Reading for the Streets of Tehran, in 2017. In addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions in Iran and abroad, she won the prestigious Alfred Fried Photography Award in Austria.
